Procure relevant "as built" construction drawings and documentation with particular focus on architectural, structural and hydraulic drawings.
Interview relevant stakeholders including residents, building manager and strata manager to obtain first-hand reports of experience with and observations of the problem.
Conduct non-destructive and/or destructive site investigations where necessary to understand and verify how the building element is actually constructed. This is required to understand the scope of the problem.
Sketch the detail found at investigation based on the guiding principle, "You can't repair what you can't draw" - Ross Taylor.
Procure specialist reports on material science, structural or hydraulic issues where necessary.
